Sir/Madam, I am a Registered Nurse
with six plus year experience in the Medical Surgical specialty, Mental and
behavioral health, Oncology, Pediatrics, Mother/Baby, Elderly Care and Nursing
Home Resident Care, Home Healthcare, as a Clinical Nurse, Nurse Supervisor,
Unit Manager/Assistant Director of Nursing and presently Resident Assessment
Director. I am interested in the Registered Nursing open position in Maryland.

National School for Senior Health Personnel, Bamenda in Cameroon
1980 to 1983 started and completed
the Registered Nursing training
Diploma Obtained: Diploma and license in Registered Nursing.
1986 to 1988 completed and obtained a Diploma and license in Registered
Government High School, Mamfe in Cameroon ; 1970 to 1976. Obtained a High
Washington Hospital Center, DC; worked in the Stroke and telemetry Unit; 2006
Favorite Nursing ; worked basically in the Trauma, oncology, psychiatry,
pediatrics and postnatal Units of Prince Georges Hospital Cheverly, MD, Laurel
Regional Hospital Laurel, MD, National Rehabilitation Center, NW Washington,
DC, Home Health Nursing for assessment of patients for intake, 2008 to 2009
Presently I am a Registered Nurse Resident Assessment Director after
serving as Assistant Director of Nursing/Unit Manager/Nurse Supervisor in
Heartland Healthcare Center of Adelphi, MD since March 18th, 2009. Also works
as needed with Favorite Nursing Staffing Agency in hospitals and patients;
NURSING AND MANAGERIAL SKILLS
My nursing skills include; Care of patients with tracheostomy, ventilators,
blood transfusions, Gastric tubes, Nasogastric tubes, Foley Catheter insertion
and care, care of supra pubic catheters, colostomy/ileostomy care,
administration of intravenous, intramuscular, subcutaneous, oral medications.
Assisting patients with activities of daily living, feeding patients, wound
care both surgical and pressure ulcers. Patient and family education has also
being part of my Nursing care process. Blood draws for laboratory examination.
Receive and report lab results to the physician and address feed backs. Receive
physician orders and transcribe them into patients' medication administration
Records. Follow up with patient care after every treatment. My skills also include
admission, assessment, implementation, treatment, evaluation and discharge of patients. Management of pain in patients. Coumadin
administration, observe for signs of bleeding. Observe patients for any side
effects of the medications and education of patients and their family.
As a supervisor, I had the task of managing the nursing staff as well as
the care of the Residents and their family. Take part in decision making in the
facility with the interdisciplinary team. Take part in morning planning meetings.
Schedule nurses assignments, assist the nurses when need arises. Delegate
duties to Nurses. Follow up with critical patient care. Assist in Codes and
emergencies. Assist in admissions of patients, complete Care plans, and
assessments, ensure that medications on physician's order sheet are faxed to
the Pharmacy and medications received promptly and patients medicated
correctly. Assist with immunization process. Prepare and complete monthly
reports. Participate in staff disputes, resolve and discipline as need arises.
Complete incident reports and investigations of non-witnessed incidents
involving patients, their family or staff. As a Nurse Manager I also performed
Nursing procedures that LPNs are not permitted to carryout such as, Hanging up
Total Parenteral Nutrition, setting up peripheral intravenous lines, Laboratory
blood specimens draw from a central line, and much more. I also filled in on
the floor in case a Floor Nurse call in for that shift.
Report to the DON and/or Administrator. Evaluate nursing Staff. Write up
nursing staff when one goes against the regulations and policies of the
facility. Report any abuse to the Director of Nursing. Participate in
Utilization Review and quality assurance meetings. Organize training and
retraining of Nurses. Assist the Director of Nursing with Hiring process. Ensure the residents receive quality care.
I am not leaving my present job as
Resident Assessment Director but need a second job. I wait anxiously for a favorable
response. I will make my references available when requested. Remember, my reason of being a nurse is to give a helping hand to those in
need of care. With the ever growing health science I am open to and like to
learn new care processes while working as a member on the interdisciplinary team.
